Welcome to Elite Rugby Scholar Scout - Alex Holden
We are delighted to welcome Alex into the Elite Rugby Scholar team of global scouts. Alex bring first hand experience of American College Varsity Rugby. This will aid in families in decisions to pursue this route for their son or daughter. Alex knows exactly what it takes to be an Elite Rugby Scholar and is now actively recruiting players for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Alex started playing Rugby at age 12 at Drogheda Grammar School and then played for Boyne RFC.
Alex represented Leinster u17s, 18s and North East Leinster Development Squad before pursuing the U.S College Rugby route.
Alex attended Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia where he play top level rugby on scholarship for two years before deciding to focus his academics elswhere.
Wheeling Jesuit is a small private college offering a traditional U.S education as well as full time rugby program and rugby scholarship.
The college has competed in the U.S top college division for a number of years now and remains a quality option for international students who are looking for a new and challenging opportunity that is truly unique.
After two years Alex decided to pursue and complete his Business Major at St Bonaventure University in upstate New York.
SBU is another high performance rugby college currently ranked top 20 in the U.S.
Alex is currently in his Senior year there and has been a key player at Centre there. He intendeds to stay on complete a Business Masters and who knows what Major League Rugby opportunities may come his way upon graduation.
Once again it is fantastic to have an Elite Rugby Scholar like Alex on board with us going forward. Alex' experience and understanding of his U.S journey will add tremendous value to the conversations we have with prospective rugby playing students.
